Marvelous March*

I have always loved the month of March.

Even though the temperatures are often still chilly, it brings the first signs of spring and signals the end of winter.

I’ve also always loved the old folklore for March– if it comes in like a lion, it will go out like a lamb, and vice versa. I lovedwaiting to see how the month will begin, and I often find that that old saying proves true.

March definitely blew in like a lion for me, and not just with regards to the weather. The past few days have been so busy I could barely stay on top of everything. Work has finally picked back up and I’m working every day again. My course has really intensified and the projects are taking more time to complete. I’m also still trying to sort out my EI, the laundry and dishes are never ending, we bought a house, I’m behind on my book club book, the Hubster and I had a date night… life is full, my lovelies. Life is full.

Also, I have a confession: I have only been running once.

It’s been such an insane week, and the weather hasn’t helped. I made it out on Tuesday, but then temperatures dipped back down to -15 with blowing snow on Wednesday and Thursday and I wasn’t brave enough to go out. I hope to go out tomorrow morning if the weather cooperates, but I think I may have been a little preemptive in making March my running month.

So, I’m going to alter it a bit: I’m going to exercise every day this month, starting tomorrow. One of the teachers at a local school spent an hour showing me and another teacher a bunch of great leg and ab exercises during our prep this week, and I am excited to try them out. I still plan to run as often as I can, but -15 is too cold for me!

And now, I am beyond ready for bed. I’m off to curl up in bed with a book.

Sweet dreams!

Bedtime Blogging*

Oh goodness. When on earth did life get so impossibly busy??

When I was in university, I had so much free time I didn’t know what to do with myself. Now that I’m an old lady grown up, time flies by faster than I can handle and my days always seem so full. It’s 10:06pm, and I’m pretty sure this is the first time I’ve sat down today.

Well… I wasn’t evaluated today. I was so sure that it was going to happen, and then it didn’t. It was a great day all the same–I had three grade 12 classes and they were all completely amazing. Great kids, great courses and I actually got to teach a real lesson today, which was an awesome surprise.

Today I taught a grade 12 Writer’s Craft course, and I got to teach an introductory lesson into paraphrasing and analyzing poetry… which I absolutely love. I really enjoy poetry, and I always did very well with paraphrasing poetry in university. The kids really struggled with it at first, but began to get the hang of it and ended with a wonderful analysis. I was so proud!

After a busy day at school, I picked up the Hubster and ran a few errands before heading home. Thankfully I’m brilliant and decided to throw dinner in the crockpot this morning, so dinner was fast and easy.

Then it was out the door again. I had a baby shower this evening, and I went early to help set up and stayed late to clean up. It was a lovely shower, but I was so ready to get home.

And now, I’m curled up in bed with my new lovely netbook (for the second time this week) with the Hubster laying next to me watching a hunting video on our little bedroom TV. I’m pretty sure I’m going to dream about coyotes tonight… when I fall asleep in less than five minutes.

I’ve already been booked for tomorrow–I’m teaching English at the school I interviewed at a few weeks ago. I tried hard to be mad at them, but I love the English department too much. They requested to have me come in, so off I go. :)

And… in case you’re wondering, my nephew still hasn’t made his grand appearance. Peeah is so ready to have this baby, but he’s just not ready to come out yet. I think it’s just too cold–if I were him I’d wait too. haha! It was -20 today, and that’s much too cold to be allowed. I still have my money on 5pm on Friday!

Just keep Peeah in your thoughts–she’s 40 weeks plus one day pregnant and could use a little love.

…or tricks to bring on labor. Know any good ones that I could pass along?

Just A Blurb*

So, remember that time when I used to write blog posts on a regular basis? Haaa… I almost can’t because it’s been like A WEEK. I’m terrible, I know.

Life has been… exciting! Last week was full of work and volunteering, but I ended up with a four day weekend and it was SO nice. The Hubster and I decided to make good use of it and took a little road trip to visit my cousin and her husband. To put it simply, it was fabulous. We laughed, ate way too much, talked, shopped and let the boys duke it out on some NHL PlayStation game. It was the first time in a long time that we’ve been able to hang out with another couple and it was SO nice. I now understand Lily and Marshall’s search for couple friends! haha

I also got to meet up with some friends from teacher’s college and it was a much needed and thoroughly enjoyed visit. While it sucks that I don’t have close girlfriends here in Pretty City, I know I have wonderful ones just a bit down the road who remind me that just because I haven’t found a real job yet, I’m still a good teacher and a job will come. Some day. (Hopefully soon!)

So, I’m sorry for my MIA-ness and my total fail on the Shop Girl Shares post for this week–I have a great one in the wings for you! Right now I’m utterly exhausted and need to sleep but I shall be back soon with some gloriousness for you… and I promise, promise to catch up on your blogs as I see all you Nablopomo’ers have been busy! :)

Much love,

PEBUAC* (I am smrt.)

Oh, hi Tuesday.

**Have you voted in my poll yet??? (–>)

Today felt like it went by reeeeeeeally fast. Yesterday was a slow hazy headachy day (I only slept for 3 hours on Sunday night… oy evay) and today was a blur! It started off a little rocky, but turned out nicely. Let’s recap:

After finally sleeping MUCH better last night I woke up feeling like a new woman. I sent the Hubster off to work, curled up in my huge computer chair that I recently stole from the Hubs side of le office and caught up on some lovely blogs until I decided it was time to run.

Now then, I should probably tell you that I am fabulous at distracting myself from the task at hand. I put on my running clothes at 8:30. I went to the bathroom to brush my teeth and decided that I needed to clean the bathroom right away. So I did. Then I saw workmen coming to repair my front stairs and decided I needed to spy on them. So I did. Then I decided I should probably check my email / procrastinate some more. So I did.

Then it was 9:30 and I decided it was time to go. So I did.

In the past two days I’ve really tried to up the intensity of my running. I haven’t built up my endurance enough yet to increase the distance by much (I add a little more each week) but I’m now trying to run my route instead of jogging it. It’s exhausting, but I feel great when I’m done! Sadly, I’m still maintaining my weight (no pound lost this week) but I’m starting to see results. The Hubs has already commented that my calves are looking thinner and more toned, and I’m starting to see some definition in my big thunders (aka thighs). Really, I started this thing to get in shape, so I am not at all disappointed. I know the scale will move when it wants to (they are fickle that way).

After my super run I had to rush to get ready as today I decided it was time to visit an employment agency. (Hire me? Please?) Actually, the Hubs suggested it to me as I’ve been trying to find work since the beginning of the summer and so I made myself all pretty, put on a pretty summer skirt and sat at my computer to print my resume. It was 11:15am, and the agency closes at 1pm. It’s a 20 minute walk and the appointment takes an hour, so I thought I was fiiiiiiiine. So I clicked print. And I waited. And waited.

…and realized we were completely out of computer paper.

(*insert mini panic attack here*)

After frantically searching the house and emailing the Hubs 100 times I decided to put my resume on a USB and he’d print it for me at work as his office isn’t far from the agency. So I ran down there, USB in hand and, like an Olympic baton relay race, passed it off to the Hubs upon my arrival and he sprinted off to the finish line (aka: his computer). Unfortunately, my computer genius Hubster ended up with a computer illiterate wifester who somehow managed not to save her resume to the USB, even though she checked it. Twice.

So, I put on my grumpy pants and grumbled a bit about the long walk and whatnot, then my darling Hubster brightened my day by suggesting an impromptu lunch date. Spending time with my main man always brightens my spirits so by the time I left for home I was in much better spirits. I really do have the best Hubster ever.

The rest of the day was kinda lazy… I napped, applied for a couple of teaching positions, wrote in my blog, added things to my ginormous to-do list, made a lazy summer dinner of BLT sandwiches and listened to sappy love songs.

Life is good.

Goodbye July*

…helllllloooooo August!

**Have you voted in my poll yet? (—>)

Well, it certainly started the right way–today was a beautiful, clear 32°C sunny day that made me hope that we might actually see some summer weather before… well, next summer. We have had so much rain and mediocre temperatures that the entire month of July felt more like fall than summer… and who wants to wear their smokin’ new fall attire in July? Not I, says I.

It’s been a busyish few days, but here’s a quick recap:

Job Search*

Well, still no luck on this front as yet. I applied for several more jobs as well as one that I REALLY REALLY want that I’m afraid to tell anyone about because then they might get it and I want it more than they do. haha! So while I know better than to keep my hopes up, it would be so nice to get an interview. I’m so sick of this unemployment bit… hire me, please?

Adventures avec Le Hubster*

On Wednesday night the Hubster and I went for a really, really long walk. We often go for short jaunts in the evening after dinner, but we found a beautiful neighbourhood, got to talking, and ended up at Lake Ontario. He’s been out there a few times on bike outings, but it was the first time I’d seen the lakefront and oh. my. gosh. It was absolutely breathtaking… I mean, I knew the lake was big and all, but wow. It just goes on forever! The lakefront itself is beautifully landscaped with trails, parks and beaches. I am in love.

Today he and I jumped on the train and headed into Toronto for the day. It’s so nice to finally be close enough to do that, I have really missed being near the city these past four years. He had a business breakfast, so I had a chance to wander around downtown and window shop until I met up with my younger brother, Choppy! It was his 21st birthday on Thursday, and I am officially OLD. Seriously–I am a university graduate, I’ve been married for almost four years and my younger brother just turned 21. If that doesn’t make me an old woman, I don’t know what does. haha! Choppy and I continued to wander while we waited for the Hubs when we heard a loud CRASH behind us. We whipped around and saw the tail end of this accident as a van rear ended a car which in turn crashed into a building. It’s an absolute miracle that no pedestrians were hit as it’s Caribana weekend and the streets were PACKED with people everywhere (and it was the first time we’d seen the sun in YEARS… ok, days. But it’s felt like years). We hurried over to snoop around see if we could be of help, but there were at least 20 people at the scene helping the driver, who escaped without serious injury.

We eventually found the Hubster and had a lovely lunch at the Pickle Barrel. I loooove it there and haven’t been since I lived in the city and dated for food. haha! We then dragged Choppy down to the lakefront in search of Caribana, but it was much further than we anticipated and my feet were ready to fall off (I have beautiful blisters to prove it… even my beautiful Birks couldn’t protect my feet from all the walking I did today!). So, the Hubs and I hopped back on the train and were asleep in about 5 seconds. I was so exhausted that by the time we got home I collapsed on our bed and slept for 2.5 hours and I’m still tired. Despite that, it was a fabulous day and I get to do it all over again next weekend as I’m off to see The Sound of Music (!!!!!!!!!!) with Choppy, Peeah, Spart and Mom! I’m so excited, and I just can’t hide it! I’m about to lose control and I think I like it! WOO!

Random Things I Think*

I love blueberries and have eaten entirely too many in the past few days. I love summer.

I missed two days of running this week (Thursday & Today) because of the INSANE amount of walking I did. I think that’s fair, don’t you?

I saw a FABULOUS pair of cream flats that I almost bought today, but I am practicing self-restraint. Be proud.

We are celebrating our 4th wedding anniversary in T-19 days and I’m trying to think of something fun but inexpensive to do… any thoughts?

T-3 posts until the big 500. Be excited.
